In 2018, JP Hair Design became home to a groundbreaking initiative: the nation's first Men's Health & Education Center inside a barbershop. This partnership with Rebalanced Life Wellness Association has transformed how Black men access healthcare in Madison.
By meeting men where they already gather, the center removes barriers to healthcare access. Free screenings, health education, and trusted conversations happen naturally in a comfortable, familiar environment.

Free Health Screenings
The Men's Health & Education Center provides free, confidential health services in a trusted environment.
Diabetes Screening
Blood glucose testing to identify prediabetes and diabetes, with education on prevention and management strategies.
HIV Testing
Confidential rapid HIV testing with counseling and connection to care services in a trusted, stigma-free environment.
Health Education
One-on-one conversations about health topics including nutrition, exercise, mental health, and preventive care.
Health screenings are available during regular business hours. No appointment necessary.

Back to School Event
For over 16 years, JP Hair Design has provided free haircuts to students before the school year begins. This annual tradition ensures every child can start school feeling confident and ready to learn.
Grades 4-10
Youth served
Kids Cleaning Crew
A youth mentorship program for students in grades 4-10 that teaches responsibility, work ethic, and financial literacy. Young people earn money while learning valuable life skills in a supportive environment.
